Christ Chapel Church

Christ Chapel Church is seeking to hire a qualified full-time Youth Pastor || Exempt – Salaried – Ministerial Position

The Context:
Christ Chapel is a Multigenerational and Multicultural church of 1200 people in Woodbridge, Virginia. Located just 21 minutes south of the White House, Christ Chapel has a long 50-year history of ministry impact and community influence and is currently led by Dr. Bob Griffith. The church has a diverse congregation with people from many cultures and backgrounds who use their talents to advance the Kingdom of God and impact their community for Christ! The church also operates an award-winning Christian school of 500 preschool – 12th-grade students called Christ Chapel Academy. There is an excellent opportunity to connect with the school’s youth. There are 14 High Schools in the Prince William County school district, with another great chance of reaching the next generation. The current youth pastor was bi-vocational and is stepping down to focus on his family and his full-time career. The new youth pastor will be full-time and re-building the youth program after seeing the church reopen and relaunching most of its ministries one year ago. Pre-Covid, Christ Chapel saw youth ministry with 150 students actively engaged and serving the Lord. There is a great foundation to build on from the past, but the church also believes excellent days are ahead because HOPE IS HERE! Christ Chapel has a newly remodeled youth facility and a team of adult volunteers actively serving, teaching, and leading worship for the youth ministry.

The Role:
The role of the Youth Pastor is to provide leadership and service for students from 6th Grade to 12th Grade. This role requires a firm grasp of the vision, culture, and mission of Christ
Chapel Church. It also requires the ability to work within a large organization. The Youth Pastor works closely with and is directly accountable to the Lead Pastor.

The Youth Pastor will be responsible for the following:
1. Implement the Christ Chapel Church philosophy of youth ministry that is consistent with the church mission, values, and strategy to effectively reach youth both in and outside the walls of the church.
2. Define yearly goals and create a plan to achieve them
3. Oversee the budget for Student Ministries
4. Work with the staff and volunteer leaders as a team to create, coordinate, and plan all teaching materials and curriculum for Student Ministries

Student Ministries Leadership:
1. Recruit a team of volunteers to execute Student Ministries
2. Provide training and leadership development to Student Ministry team members and Student Leaders
3. Work with the Worship and Creative Arts Pastor to ensure that all youth ministry events and services are executed to the standards of Christ Chapel Worship Ministry

Parent Ministry:
1. Provide counseling and support to parents during difficult times
2. Work with parents of youth to provide support to each other and to support the ministry
3. Maintain resources for parents to use to improve their parenting skills and encourage them to be the primary spiritual leader in their child’s life
4. Plan and execute events that are Parent/Student in nature

1. Develop disciples: we want to see the lives of students transformed
2. Shepherd the students that attend Christ Chapel Church
3. Coach people to teach at weekly and monthly youth events
4. Plan and execute a calendar of events that promote growth, build community, and accomplish the goals outlined for the Youth Ministry
5. Spend time with students and provide support to them in times of crisis and celebration

Required Experience:

  • Teaching/Preaching Skills
  • Experience in coordinating multiple events
  • Ability to understand, evaluate, and build a church culture
  • Experience in leadership principles
  • Experience in managing and growing ministry teams
  • Ability to understand and manage people—work with others toward common goals
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to recruit, lead and motivate volunteers

  • Strong discernment skills, both for handling interpersonal relationships and for evaluating and adjusting ministry
  • Strong administrative, project management, and systems skills
  • Solid decision-making skills
  • High emotional intelligence
  • Skilled in recruiting, training, and envisioning teams

  • Systems development and management proficiency
  • Excellent written communication skills
